Sunday School Information

Here at Bucks County Community Church, we strive to create a loving environment that nurtures children in their understanding and relationship with God. Through Bible teaching, activities, games and songs, we strive to give the children a strong Biblical foundation on which they can build their lives. We seek to help parents train their children in the way they should go that they would become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. Our goal is to not only help your child grow in their understanding of God, His amazing love, and His Word, but to also help you be successful parents in raising your children.

“Train a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not turn from it.”  —Proverbs 22:6
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind.” —Matt. 22:37

What to Expect

Two Services

Our Church has two services: one at 8:45am and a second at 10:30am. Sunday School is offered for ages infant-5th grade for both services. Our classrooms can be found on the lower level, under the sanctuary.

Drop Off

If you are dropping your kids off for the first time, you will need to fill out an information form.
Children can hang their coats in class. They are allowed to bring their Bible, but we ask that other personal belongings stay in their cubby.
Infant and Toddler Room:
Please label bottles or cups. (Older classes use the water fountain.)

Pick Up

Children are not allowed to leave the classroom without the parent or approved individual. When picking up your child, the teacher will be standing at the door. The teacher will call your child over for dismissal. Please make sure they collect their belongings before they come out to the hallway with you.

Moving Up

When a child is part of the Toddler Room and turns 3, the Toddler Room teacher will start a conversation with the Preschool Teacher for when your child will move up.
The Preschool Room moves up at 3 or 4 times a year. The Preschool teacher will contact you when it is getting close to move up time.
1st-5th grade runs on a school year rotation. Move up happens the first week of September.

Classwork

Each classroom has age-appropriate handouts that highlight a specific passage, theme, or story in the Bible. There are questions and games in these handouts to aid the child in learning, and are also good talking points for the parents. Our goal in the Sunday School is to be a support to what you, as parents, are teaching at home. We want you to be able to go over these bible lessons with your children as well.
Some classes give incentives or rewards for doing the work at home. The goal is not to make getting a prize be the reason for doing the work, but to learn outside of the classroom even more about God’s wonderful plan all throughout scripture.

Teachers

Each of our lead teachers is a member of our church, and has filled out a statement of belief to confirm that they will be teaching what our church believes. All of our leaders and teachers have clearances on file—Criminal Background Checks and Child Abuse History Clearances.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I take my child?

The children’s wing is downstairs, under the sanctuary. Classrooms are on the left and right. Signs are over the doors to let you know what classroom it is.
There is a door that leads to the parking lot.

How  will I be contacted if there is an issue with my child during class?

When you drop your child off in the classroom, you need to fill out a form. This form has your phone number on it. This information is kept in our computer system and can be found by the lead teacher in either service. If there is an issue with your child, you will be contacted by phone- Text or Phone Call. (Keep your phone on silent in the sanctuary, but where you can see or feel the vibrating)

Can my child invite friends?

Yes. We love when children invite their friends to Sunday School, or any children’s ministry event. When they are dropped off in a class we will still need information on them, so please have contact-information ready.

Who can pick up my child?

On the back of the information form there was a spot to write who is able to pick up your child. If you want to go back and change a name or add a name you are able to do that at any time.

My child has an allergy, what should I do?

Let the lead teacher know if your child has an allergy. It should be written on their information form. The Infant room through Prek serves snacks during each service. (Infant room-only when given the approval of the parent) If your child is not able to eat certain foods you can send them in with a snack.

Can I pick up my child early from their class?

Yes. Let the teacher know at the beginning of class that you will be coming back early. We want to make sure they can be ready, and get the papers that they need.

Do I need to pay anything?

No, we do not expect any payment.

1st–5th grades use Kids Sunday School for first service.
1st–3rd grades use LifeWay Gospel Project for second service.
4th–5th grades use Ken Hamm's Answers in Genesis for second service.

How can I help?

There are many ways that you can help:

1. Pray for the leaders

To know how to relay God’s Word to every student. To have patience and love at all times. To have energy during class and rest when they need it.

2. Pray for the children

To hear God’s word and apply it to their lives. To understand the message of the Bible. To obey, listen, and not distract others in class. To come to a life-changing relationship with Christ.

3. Become a teacher or helper

We are always in need of help in the classrooms. Come ask Rachael Booth for more information.

4. Help behind the scenes

There are organization roles for different classrooms and programs. If you are crafty or musically talented or have a passion, we can use it!

5. Give feedback

We want to improve and run more smoothly. Our goal is to plant seeds of salvation in the lives of every child that comes in this building.

6. Work with your children at home

Let them see parents who are involved in the Bible and devoted to God.
